Spring BMW Motorcycle Magazine Preview

Spring BMW Motorcycle Magazine Preview

The Spring 2010 edition of BMW Motorcycle Magazine (also known as issue #6) is ready! A preview of pages and list of articles is now available on our current issue page.

If you’re a fan of the BMW S1000RR or just wondering what all the fuss is about, we include not just a road test by an ex-world champion but explore, in-depth, the technology, electronics, engine and the suppliers of this ground breaking BMW.

For the touring bike enthusiast we also have a road test of the new 2010 BMW R1200RT. An updated fairing, new switchgear and—oh, I almost forgot—a new dual overhead cam (DOHC) Boxer engine highlight this model. You’ll be surprised by our test bench comparison of 2010 versus 2005 RT engines.

And if you’re looking for the inside scoop on the future of BMW, we include three different engine concepts to power the future of BMW on two wheels. First, our German moles tell us BMW engineers are hard at work creating the next Boxer — a water-cooled Boxer. Boxer loyalists will want to read what is being planned. Second, the BMW Concept 6 is a fascinating combination of classic café racer and muscle modern styling. But it’s the six cylinder inline engine that steals the show. The inline six is just as iconic to BMW automobiles as the Boxer is to BMW motorcycles and we say it will power the next LT. Third, Green is in and BMW is looking for ways to provide low emission urban transport by resurrecting the C1 scooter with a roof. This time with green, all electric propulsion. And finally, we include an interview with Dr. Christian Landerl, Director of Development for BMW Motorcycles, who discusses BMW’s future engine development.

Just in time for the start of the riding season we have our annual visit to the Dealer Expo to show you the gear that’s new, exciting and fun. And if you’re looking for a new riding suit, we have tested and reviewed the new BMW Street Guard 3.

You’ll also want to freshen up those riding skills and we have none other than David L. Hough, writer, teacher and author of the best selling motorcycle book of all time, Proficient Motorcycling, as a columnist. His first installment of Motorcycle Dynamics is in our Spring issue. Don’t miss the whole series!

There’s also much, much more including our cover girl, Leslie Porterfield standing next to the new S1000RR (you did notice the motorcycle?). What happens when you mix the fastest woman on a motorcycle (so says Guinness World Records), an S1000RR, fashion and BMW’s 230 Million Dollar wind tunnel? Pick up the magazine to find out.

For those who have subscribed, your issue is coming! However, there’s still time to subscribe and have the Spring 2010 issue included. We’ve had such an avalanche of recent orders, a second mailing is scheduled by the end of May. Click here to subscribe.
