Water-Cooled GS Spotted Again

A new photo taken near BMW’s Munich Development Center of BMW’s upcoming water-cooled boxer R1200GS has been published by MotorCycle News (UK). Like the previous R1200GS spy photos we’ve shown you, this test bike is camouflaged with stickers including what looks like engine protection bars to make this mule look more like a current R1200GS Adventure. Even with the stickers the new styling of the GS is apparent.

What can be clearly seen in this photo is the revamped water-cooled boxer engine with its rotated head — intake on top of the cylinder and exhaust at the bottom. More photos of the water-cooled boxer engine case are in our Summer 2011 issue. A radiator fan is just visible on the leading edge of the tank. Other changes include the shaft drive moved to the left side and radial brakes.
