Ride the Hardest to Reach Continent – Antarctica

For a few hardy adventurers, the goal is to ride on all the continents. Some are lucky enough to manage five, others are able to impress by reaching six, but hardly anyone has ever ridden on all seven. Now is your chance to tick off your list that last and hardest continent to reach, Antarctica. Ron Ayres and his motorcycle touring company, Ayres Adventures, will be taking BMW motorcycles to the ‘white continent’ as part of their Antarctica and Ushuaia Adventure in January 2013.

In-between Ushuaia, Argentina, and Antarctica is the Drake Passage consisting of several hundred miles of cold seas, so it is not actually possible to ride to the Antarctic Peninsula. However, it is possible to ride once you get there – even if there are no roads.

Ayres Adventures (an official travel partner of BMW Motorrad) starts this particular adventure on January 12, 2013 in the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires and takes mostly paved roads to Ushuaia. The itinerary includes South American attractions at the Peninsula Valdes, Argentina’s Perito Moreno Glacier and Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park. After arriving in Ushuaia, there’s time to visit the Tierra del Fuego National Park before departing for a 10-day cruise to the Antarctic Peninsula.

If you’ve been wanting to ride where few others have every gone, now’s your chance to do it with a tour group.
