Two-time Australian Superbike Champion Glenn Allerton will make his US debut at the 2012 AMA Superbike races at Laguna Seca on July 27-29. Creating the opportunity for Allerton to come here is the newly launched HP BMW Racing Team formed by San Diego BMW, Kushitani Leather and Hepburn Motorsports.

Allerton says “I’m really excited to be heading to the US to race at Laguna Seca in the AMA Superbike race. For years as a kid I use to love watching the 500 GP bikes swing down the famous ‘corkscrew’ section at Laguna Seca and to be actually heading there to race myself is a dream come true for me. I’m sure the competition is going to be very strong but I’m going to have my own crew from Australia with me to set the bike up so my confidence is high heading into the event.”

Help from Gary Orr of San Diego BMW, front runners in the AMA last year, and Mike Ngo from Kushitani Leathers, gave Glenn and the Hepburn Motorsports Team the chance to ride and experience the world famous Laguna Seca circuit in sunny Monterey, California. This will be a first for many of the team, who say they are all really excited about the opportunity to race in the States. The team’s entry will also be the debut of the Australian-designed DVS suspension in the AMA pro racing series.

Allerton gave thanks to the efforts of Shane Kinderis and Nathan Webb for arranging this for the whole team, and to his sponsors in Australia who helped contribute in getting the team over to the US: Procon, Zoom Recruitment, Alpine Performance Centre, Krooze Tune, JAT Choppers, Maxima Racing Oils.

Mike Ngo, marketing manager at Kushitani America says: “Kushitani has a long history of supporting riders from Australia like Wayne Gardener, Kevin Mcgee, Troy Corser and many others. We are always glad to support Glenn Allerton, who through his professionalism and talent has secured double championships in the Australian SBK. What more can a sponsor ask for?”
