BMW Motorcycle Magazine, Fall 2012, Available Now

Bringing the latest in BMW news from around the globe, the Fall 2012 edition of BMW Motorcycle Magazine features new models, tech, events, gear, destinations and the best of custom machine inspirations.

First, we introduce you to 2013’s updated F800GS and its sister, the newly named F700GS. These mid-class parallel twins join BMW’s popular enduro class with a multitude of improvements, both visually and technically. We give you all the details on these new and affordable models.

From Italy, for those who would rather make their own custom bike, we show you a new retro R120G/S kit that gives you the technology of today’s R1200GS with the original G/S design from the 1980s. Or, see the R1200ST boxer roadster fit into a 1987 K75 frame for its technical expertise in Boxer Al Dente.

From Bulgaria comes the one-of-a-kind F800R, appropriately named the Predator. Created at Vilner Design with an extravagant budget, it’s the result of six months of labor and 17 new components, upscaling the modest model into the alien-like “Monster” made to impress.

From Japan, we tour the Ritmo Sereno shop specializing in fine tuning BMW airheads for performance on the track or producing showroom-perfect restorations. Shiro Nakajima keeps the boxer flag flying at classic bike races as well as creating custom one-of-a-kind gems he sells around the world through his wildly popular Internet site.

Back to our roots in Germany, we feature the story behind the Black Mauritius, the only supercharged and street-approved bike ever made in BMW’s factory. Why it was given to Walter Zeller, the 1950’s BMW racer, and why it is now for sale, make for a fascinating piece of history.

For modern tech fans, we bring you our journalist’s track test of the actual World Superbike race bike now being run by superstars Melandri and Haslam. What have they got that our production bikes don’t? And for those yearning for a new K1600GT/GTL, we have results of our long-term fleet bike, now at 4,000 miles of daily use. Check out our fuel/oil/tire wear numbers and riding impressions.

A special section on helmets and communicators will show you the latest gear on connecting to the world through Bluetooth. Our Garage section will explain brake bleeding and our Destinations section will introduce you to the sand dunes of Washington and map a great pass through the Bitterroot Mountains. Planning on camping? Get your skinny on with our “Ultralite Packing” tips.

Plus, check out all the latest in racing, corporate and dealer news in our Fall 2012 issue. BMW Motorcycle Magazine can be ordered as a subscription or single issue from our online shop for delivery to your door or digitally to your iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.
