Once again, BMW Motorrad topped the prize results in Motorrad magazine’s readers choice “Motorcycle of the Year 2013” awards. They won in four categories, “touring bike,” “sport bike,” “trial/enduro” and “scooter,” and placed in three others in the 15th edition of the German magazine’s awards.
In the “sport bike” category, the BMW HP4 placed number one. More than a third of the participating Motorrad readers praised the consistent super-sporty driving dynamics and the combination of four-cylinder performance, Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control DTC.
In the “touring bike” category, the BMW K1600GT/GTL won first place with 21 percent of the vote. Another BMW touring motorcycle, the R1200RT, took third place with 13.6 percent.
The top position in the “trial/enduro” category went to the new R1200GS. More than 30 percent of the Motorrad readership put the new water-cooled model of this bestseller into the winner’s circle.
At the top of the podium with 20.1 percent of the readers’ votes were the two BMW motorcycle scooters. The C600 Sport and C650GT won in the “scooter” class.
Two other BMW motorcycle models received recognition. The BMW R1200R/Classic came in third place in the “naked bike” category while the BMW K1300S celebrated a second place as a “rounder.”
The award ceremony took place on March 12, 2013 in Stuttgart, Germany. This year 30,245 readers participated in Motorrad magazine’s “Motorcycle of the Year 2013” awards. Since 1999, more than half a million readers have taken part in these awards.
