The new water-cooled 2013 BMW R1200GS has been named “Best of the Best” in the Motorcycles, Adventure/Touring category of Robb Report’s recently released June issue. The 25th annual edition of Best of the Best is the guide to the world’s finest new automobiles, yachts, hotels, watches, wines and more. It features more than 175 award winners plus a “Best of the Best” retrospective of perennial favorites.
When the all-new R1200GS was introduced in March it received kudos from motorcycle journalists worldwide, who had already praised its popular bestselling predecessor. Robb Report says, “More stringent emissions regulations may have prompted BMW’s move to liquid cooling, but the change benefits the bike’s performance as well as the environment. Compared with the previous GS model, the new one’s engine has a broader power curve and a gain of 15 hp, which lends the bike more robust acceleration… The $15,800 R1200GS departs from a tried-and-true design, but it does so in a way that enhances its capabilities.”
