While BMW Motorrad Days in Germany is an established annual event in the motorcycling calendar for many Europeans, it’s a long way to travel for BMW enthusiasts in other parts of the world. Therefore some are now creating their own customer events across the globe. The most recent of these happened in Argentina, where more than 1,000 riders gathered to share a weekend BMW Motorrad style.
BMW Motorrad Days Argentina was held in the town of Villa Gral, Belgrano, located in the province of Cordoba – a small city distinguished by its Bavarian architecture. For this inaugural event, the town adopted the characteristics of an authentic German village, where brand enthusiasts and friends from all over the country traveled to experience a unique motorcycling festival. Awaiting participants were three days packed with activities and shows, all designed to offer maximum riding pleasure and engage people in the many experiences that the world of BMW Motorrad offers.
Those who wanted an active riding event were not disappointed. From the Friday morning onwards, riders who arrived at the BMW enduro park had plenty of choices. Some enrolled to participate in the national GS Trophy Argentina qualifier, in the hope of being chosen to represent their country in the International GS Trophy 2014 event, which will take place in Canada next September. Others came to join guided tours around Cordoba’s mountains, organized by official BMW travel partner Renta Moto. Many riders registered for on- and off-road clinics, where they could improve the art of riding a motorcycle, with help from experienced BMW instructors.
There were many other activities available, such as training sessions on subjects such as basic mechanical issues, navigator systems and tires, among others. There was also a mechanic service, for those interested in checking their motorcycles for free, so that any possible problem that could prevent them from enjoying the event, could be eliminated.
There were also many different displays to look at, from the current line-up of BMW models on sale in Argentina, to various exhibitors showing a wide variety of products, such as Metzeler, Castrol, Continental, Bridgestone, Rotary, Slime and Ohlins. BMW Financial Services also had a presence too, with many prospective customers to speak to. For those who wanted to relax and enjoy nature and Cordoba’s landscape there was even a ‘Spa & Relax’ service, where those with tired and aching bodies could enjoy 15-minute massage sessions.
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the company, a special display area was prepared to exhibit classic motorcycles. Some customers even showed their own examples of BMW bikes through the ages, representing the nine decades of BMW Motorrad history. The best classic BMW motorcycles were awarded special prizes.
For many Argentineans, it was the first chance to see stunt riding world champion Chris Pfeiffer in action on his modified F800R machine. Throughout the weekend, Chris entertained crowds with shows that took place in the main street of the town, open for everybody to enjoy. Motorcyclists and non-motorcyclists alike gathered to enjoy and appreciate each gravity-defying show, where Chris continues to amaze and innovate in equal measures.
A BMW Motorrad Days event wouldn’t be the same without a huge party on the Saturday night, and this was of course the case in Argentina, where a dinner show was followed by live music, prize giving and the usual dancing on the tables well into the Sunday morning. It was a real riders’ party designed to rival the Main Event in Europe and a fitting finale to a wonderful weekend of activities. Suffice to say that all BMW riders in Argentina are already looking forward to next year’s adventure.
