BMW Motorrad has achieved a new annual sales record in 2013 with another month still remaining. With a total of 108,872 motorcycles and maxi scooters sold worldwide through November, 2013 sales are already about 2,500 more than all of 2012. In November alone, BMW Motorrad sold 8.8% more vehicles than in the same month last year and thereby once again achieved an all-time November sales high of 7,342 vehicles (previous year: 6,749 units)
Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing said, “This excellent result has been made possible by healthy sales in the USA and Asia and — despite difficult market conditions — in the European markets, too. The level of incoming orders in November was significantly higher than that of the previous year. New BMW Motorrad products presented by us a few weeks ago at the EICMA are already in popular demand. We have expanded our product portfolio with two new products in the roadster segment, the BMW R nineT and the S1000R. The successors to the volume models R1200RT and R1200GS Adventure will also go on the market next spring. As does the new BMW K1600GTL Exclusive with six-cylinder power and highly impressive specification. We also enter the market for single-track electromobility next year with the innovative maxi scooter BMW C evolution. Demand for the water-cooled BMW R1200GS remains at a pleasingly high level. We have already sold over 25,000 of them to customers worldwide as of November.”
In the USA, BMW Motorrad sold 821 motorcycles in November, an increase of 5.7% from the 777 motorcycles sold in November 2012. The R1200GS drove R-Series growth 41% with the water-cooled boxer once again the best selling BMW motorcycle in November with 165 units. Sales of F-Series middleweight machines increased by 72% with 187 deliveries compared to 109 in November 2012. Through November, BMW Motorrad USA has increased sales 17.4% in 2013 to 13,078 units compared to the 11,139 units sold during the same time periods last year.
