BMW Motorrad Picks Up 10 MOTORRAD Magazine Awards for 2015

BMW Motorrad wins in four of seven categories and celebrates a total of ten awards in the “Motorcycle of the Year 2015” Readers’ Choice Award by the German magazine MOTORRAD. A total of 48,118 readers took part in the voting — well over half a million of readers have taken part in this vote since 1999.The award ceremony was held today, March 3, 2015, in Stuttgart, Germany.

The new R1200RS was voted the winner of the “Tourer/Sports Tourer” category by MOTORRAD magazine readers.
The updated S1000RR was tops in the “Sportsbike” category.

In the “Tourer/Sports Tourer” category, the new R1200RS won with 21.5 percent of the votes. The R1200RT, which has been featured in the BMW Motorrad range for more than three decades, came in third. In the “Sportsbikes” category the new S1000RR took first place with 23.8 percent of the votes. In the “Enduro/Supermoto” category, BMW Motorrad was once again the winner with the R1200GS receiving 25.3 percent of the votes. Victory number four went to the R nineT in the “Modern Classics” category with a convincing 35 percent of voters.

This confirms us once again in our development work and also acts as an incentive for the future so we can keep offering the best BMW motorcycle in the respective category,” said Stephan Schaller, General Director of BMW Motorrad.

In the new reader’s choice “Crossover” category the S1000XR took second place with 20.7 percent of votes even before it arrives in dealer showrooms. In the “Naked Bikes” category, BMW Motorrad came in second with the new R1200R and third with the S1000R. Further podiums in the “Scooter” category went to the C600 Sport/C650GT and the C evolution in second and third place respectively.
