Spring is just around the corner and you’re probably thinking of the upcoming motorcycling season. But you might also be thinking about another kind of cycling in order to explore the great outdoors by pedal power. If that’s the case, then you might be interested in the new folding bicycle by MINI, the British auto marque owned by BMW. The collapsible two-wheeler can be quickly loaded into any car trunk with ease, and provides a flexible, comfortable and contemporary means of getting around. Whether it’s a short ride through town or an excursion through the countryside.
The new MINI Folding Bike features an ingenious mechanism that allows the lightweight aluminium frame to be collapsed and unfolded again in seconds. This means the bike can be downsized into its space-saving form quickly and easily, and stowed inside the transport bag. This new version comes in a matt dark-grey with silver-colored accents and a MINI Wing Logo on the crossbar (last year’s version came with a lime-colored frame or a black frame with a lime-colored chain) . The saddle and handlebar grips are brown leather.
Technical specs include eight gears, 20-inch wheels and a weight of about 24 pounds (11 kg). The Teflon-coated chain protects against rusting and dirt, so it’s ready for action come rain or shine. There are also mudguards at the front and rear for additional protection from dirt and water splashes in wet and muddy conditions. It comes fully assembled and ready to ride. Matching accessories, such as the MINI Bike Light, are also available.
The MINI Folding Bike is available now from MINI’s European online shop (which does ship to the USA) at www.shop.mini.com for €650 (about $800). It should also be available from your local MINI dealer as well as MINI’s USA online shop at www.shopminiusa.com in the near future.
