In the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) last weekend, BMW racers continue to set the pace. Two races were held at the fourth and penultimate event of the season, at the Atlantic Motorsport Park (CAN) – ending with top-three and top-four results for the BMW S1000RR. Record champion Jordan Szoke (CAN / Mopar Express Lane BMW Superbike Team) continued his winning streak, finishing first in both races and taking a huge step towards winning his 13th title in the CSBK.

Starting from pole position in the first race, Szoke celebrated a clear start-to-finish victory. He finished with a lead of around four seconds over his second-placed fellow BMW rider Ben Young (CAN / Ben Young Racing). Third place went to Samuel Trepanier (CAN / Blysk Racing).

The second race featured a top-four for BMW: Szoke followed by Trepanier, Young and Michael Leon (in fourth/not pictured).

The second race was a real thriller. Szoke and Trepanier delivered a gripping duel for the win at the front. Trepanier pulled off a plucky maneuver to overtake the record champion and take the lead, but made a mistake shortly before the checkered flag. Szoke pounced on the error to clinch his next win with a lead of one thousandth of a second. Finishing in second place, Trepanier equalled his best CSBK result to date. Young finished third, making it onto the podium again, and Michael Leon (CAN / Royal Distributing Racing Team) rounded off the BMW top-four result. The season finale, with two more races, will be held at Bowmanville (CAN) in mid-August.

Jordan Szoke: “It’s really awesome to come out on top because we’ve all been working really hard. In race two, Sam pulled off a great pass and I thought maybe he was going to take off, but he made a small mistake there and when you get a chance like that you have to take it. These guys pushed me 100% to my limit, I didn’t slow down at all. This track is just so difficult, but I guess I didn’t do too bad for an old man.”

Peter Hickman (GBR / Smiths Racing BMW) finished in sixth and tenth places. Iddon’s teammate Michael Laverty (GBR) finished the two races in tenth and eleventh.

In the Superstock class (BSB STK), three races were held at Brands Hatch: two consecutive races on Saturday, with half the number of points being awarded for each race, and one on Sunday. In the first race on Saturday, Keith Farmer (GBR / Tyco BMW Motorrad) finished second on the podium. In race two, Farmer set the fastest lap before retiring but Astro – JJR Racing’s Alex Olsen (GBR) — represented BMW on the podium, in third place.
