The 2010 BMW S1000RR was built to meet the super bike market head on. In many ways, it’s design is traditional and therefore should fit easily into current sport bike owner’s expectations. But it also has uniquely BMW touches of sophistication and technology. A new motorcycle for a new, to BMW, market segment presented at an affordable price.
The 2010 BMW R1200RT is updated from the 2005 version through a mild fairing revision, new switchgear and a new dual overhead cam (DOHC) Boxer engine (seen previously on the 2010 BMW R1200GS). While the engine is the headline change, it does not outperform the previous version in either max horsepower or torque. This makes the 2010 update an evolutionary change. Which is fine with us, since the R1200RT was already at the top of the touring bike market.
