BMW K1600GT and K1600GTL (2011)

The six cylinder engine is iconic among the Bimmer (BMW automobile) crowd but the K1600GT is the first production BMW motorcycle to use it. The engine was shown in November 2009 as part of the aptly named concept bike, the BMW Concept 6 (see also the article in the Spring 2010 BMW Motorcycle Magazine).

A road test of the K1600GT with dyno chart appeared in the Fall 2011 BMW Motorcycle Magazine. A first ride feature of the K1600GT and GTL appeared in the Summer 2011 BMW Motorcycle Magazine. A first look at the K1600GT and GTL with specs and analysis appeared in the Winter 2010 BMW Motorcycle Magzine. Teaser images of the K1600GT and GTL appeared in the Summer 2010 BMW Motorcycle Magazine.

A K1600GT was used as the basis for BMW’s Advanced Safety Concept showcasing future motorcycle safety features.
