For the second time in four years, BMW enthusiast Todd Trumbore hosted a spectacular two-day party on his property in Pennsylvania. This time it was to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the iconic R100RS and, as he had done a few years ago for the R90S, he invited fellow BMW owners and collectors to join him. Only for this special, once-in-a-lifetime occasion, he also invited BMW legends of the era including designer Hans Muth, tuners Udo Gietl and Tom Cutter, and racer Reg Pridmore, along with his actual R90S that took the first AMA Superbike championship in 1976. Here we present an exclusive inside story of that time at BMW, from the perspective of the man who made these machines possible, Hans Muth.
Appeared in the Spring 2018, BMW Motorcycle Magazine.
