The BMW HP4 was voted the “Best Sports Motorcycle over 750cc” by readers of the German sports motorcycle magazine PS in their “Best Sports Motorcycles 2014” survey. The BMW S1000RR came in third in that category and, overall, BMW Motorrad found themselves in the top three in eight times in the “Sport,” “Naked,” “Enduro” and “Allrounder” categories.
The new S1000R and R nineT were voted second and third respectively in the “Best Naked Bike” category in their inaugural year. The R1200GS finished second in the category “Best Enduro/Supermoto” while the well-established K1300S demonstrated its qualities as a long-distance sports machine in the “Best Sports Allrounder.” In their home country, BMW Motorrad was voted second place in the “Best Motorcycle Brand” rankings.
Stephan Schaller, Head of BMW Motorrad, said of the results, “I am glad to see that our motorcycles — especially the R nineT — have achieved such a high level of popularity among a group of readers oriented especially towards sports machines. I should like to thank PS readers most sincerely for their support. I am particularly happy to see that our top models HP4 and S1000RR once again performed impressively in the ‘Sport’ category with their innovative technologies.”
An award ceremony was held on May 15th 2014 in Pforzheim, Germany.
